Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28 the 28th of October, 1967. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer, was one of the first Roberts to arrive in Atlanta. At an early age, her dad became fascinated by the theater. He acted on the Emory University campus in 1952 and also in a variety of productions around Atlanta. When he joined in 1953 the Air Force, he appeared together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. The couple got married in the year 1955. Their child, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter as well as his spouse were discharged from their Air Force service in 1957 and enrolled Walter at Tulane University. Walter was a part of the Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio at the time the family relocated from Atlanta to Decatur, Georgia in 1960. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou began production on a local Saturday morning children's TV show known as Bum Bum and His Buddies which they funded by their own. They founded an Actors and Writers Workshop in that same year. It ran for about six years. During this time they also had two children Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in 1965 and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
